Prevent Fedora from downgrading Synergy

Help & Troubleshooting

Product:
Synergy 3
Operating system:
Linux

After installing Synergy 3 on Fedora, you may notice after a while that Synergy gets automatically downgraded or removed by the operating system.

This is caused by a bug in our RPM package generator not using the correct epoch value, which we plan to fix. Until then, here's a workaround to stop Fedora from automatically downgrading or removing Synergy 3.

Newer versions of Fedora

  1. Edit /etc/dnf/dnf.conf
  2. Under [main] add: exclude=synergy

Older versions of Fedora

  1. Edit /etc/yum/repos.d/fedora.repo
  2. Under [main] add: exclude=synergy
