Here are some tips for when you're experiencing configuration problems.
Things to Try First
- Double check that the client was added to the server config
- Make sure that the client name is precisely the same on both computers
- Make sure you're not using any unicode characters in your hostname
- Reinstall Synergy on all computers
- Reboot all of your computers
Fixing the client name
The unrecognized client name error message is caused by having an invalid screen name in your server config. Please double check your server config. Click the Configure Server button. Make sure the screen names on that screen exactly match the actual client name. Once you've fixed the screen name, click the Apply button. If you still see the same error after doing this, let us know and we can try some more steps.
Fixing SSL Errors
When using Synergy 1, an SSL error message in your log is usually caused by a bug, but there's a workaround. Please try disabling SSL in your settings, then try again to see if it now works. On macOS, this is found by clicking Synergy in the menu bar, then click Preferences. On Windows and Linux, you can find Settings in the File menu.
If that works, please try re-enabling SSL to see if that fixes it (most of the time this works). If you still see the same error after doing this, let us know and we can try some more steps. Or, you can leave SSL off until we fix the bug.
