Release notes

Synergy Dragon Alpha

v0.7.0 (October 27, 2026)

Features

  • Joining a computer is now confirmed with a six-digit code shown on both screens, instead of seven emoji. A computer on an older version still compares the full fingerprint.
  • An administrator can now lock settings on a computer, such as clipboard sharing, encryption, file transfer and the ports other computers connect on, with Group Policy on Windows, a configuration profile on macOS, or /etc/synergy-dragon/policy.ini on Linux. A locked setting shows in Settings as set by your administrator.
  • A hotkey that switches to a computer now takes that computer back when another primary has taken control of it.

Enhancements

  • On a Mac, the app is now called Synergy Dragon Alpha in Applications, Finder and the Dock.

Bug fixes

Windows

  • Stopped sharing failing to start on a Windows computer without the Visual C++ runtime installed.
  • Corrected left-clicking the tray icon, which now opens the window rather than the menu. A right click still opens the menu.

macOS

  • Stopped the app saying macOS is blocking it for up to a minute after the Accessibility permission is granted.
  • Stopped a Mac being turned away by the primary after its system hostname changes: it now keeps the name its network knows it by.
  • Restored a Mac's own cursor staying still while the cursor is on another computer.
  • Stopped extra icons appearing and bouncing in the Dock when sharing starts.

Linux and Wayland

  • Stopped sharing failing to start where the installed Qt is older than the Synergy Core needs: the packages now ask for the version it needs.

All computers

  • Stopped sharing hanging for good when the computer the cursor is on drops off the network while the cursor is moving: the cursor now comes back, and the keyboard and mouse keep working.
  • Stopped a computer losing the primary after the primary's address changes: it now follows the new address within about half a minute.
  • Stopped a computer the primary refuses showing it only as offline: it now says why, and offers to reconnect, or to join the network the primary is in now.
  • Corrected rejoining a network after deleting its profile, which now asks to be let in again instead of reusing the removed profile.
  • Corrected choosing the Barrier protocol, so Barrier and Input Leap clients can now connect.
  • Corrected right-clicking in a text field, which now shows the menu with spelling suggestions, cut, copy and paste.

Open Source

Synergy stands on the work of countless upstream open source projects, from the libraries and toolchains we build with to the platform code that lets it run on every operating system. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to any of them, whether in code, documentation, testing, or support, and to everyone who has worked on the open source code behind this release. We could not build Synergy without you, and we are grateful to be part of the community that makes this software possible.
