BESSONNAT Florian
Hi, I have the same problem on Windows 10: - The Windows 10 PC is set as "server", the client is a Windows 8 PC. - Sometimes, on the Windows 8 client size, restoring a locked windows session will produce the same error on the server side: "ERROR: failed to init synwinhk.dll, another program may be using it" - Restarting windows 10 (server) PC fix the issue. So I suggest a problem on the server side with a possible creation of several Synergy process from a client behaviour. Thx, Florian

I can reproduce those errors your are thinking. Seems like it is a Windows specific bug, having to do with process management. There is a github ticket on this, so the developers are aware and working on a fix. You should be able to solve this with a hard reboot. Sleep/suspend/hibernate are going to make this worse. Once more, when you get this error can you try closing the Synergy Window and performing a "Shut Down"? Windows 8 and 10 sometimes hide this feature, so please verify that you have actually shut the computer down, and not gone into some strange powersaving mode.

As long as they aware of the issues, they are exacerbated with a sleep/hibernate but the problem is completely erratic and intermittent, sometimes synergy works flawlessly and sometimes its terrible. I have tried to note exactly what i do to cause the issues but i cant pinpoint anything. . I dont like rebooting all the time and have resorted to restarting the synergy service.

Also @Duncan, if you have Synergy Pro then you have options for phone/email tech support. While logged into synergy-project.org, look in your "My account" page under "Support." This forum is for Synergy Basic users, and the support comes primarily from other users.

Hi, I do have the pro version and have been liaising with support for the last few days sending logs and so on but have not gotten any closer to resolving this issue.

I also have this issue - server and client are both Win10 Pro x64 I get this constantly in my log viewer: [2016-01-20T09:53:17] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:53:18] NOTE: new client disconnected [2016-01-20T09:53:22] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-01-20T09:53:22] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:53:23] NOTE: new client disconnected [2016-01-20T09:53:27] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-01-20T09:53:27] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:53:28] NOTE: new client disconnected [2016-01-20T09:53:29] WARNING: detected application not running, pid=97752 [2016-01-20T09:53:30] INFO: backing off, wait=2s, failures=1 [2016-01-20T09:53:32] INFO: starting new process [2016-01-20T09:53:32] INFO: activeDesktop:Default [2016-01-20T09:53:32] INFO: starting new process [2016-01-20T09:53:32] INFO: drag and drop enabled [2016-01-20T09:53:32] ERROR: failed to get desktop path, no drop target available, error=2 [2016-01-20T09:53:32] NOTE: started server, waiting for clients [2016-01-20T09:53:32] INFO: watchdog status: ok [2016-01-20T09:53:33] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-01-20T09:53:33] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:53:33] NOTE: new client disconnected [2016-01-20T09:53:33] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-01-20T09:53:33] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:53:35] NOTE: client "DESKTOP-DCSH9T4" has connected [2016-01-20T09:53:39] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-01-20T09:53:39] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:53:39] NOTE: new client disconnected [2016-01-20T09:53:44] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-01-20T09:53:44] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:53:44] NOTE: new client disconnected [2016-01-20T09:53:49] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-01-20T09:53:49] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:53:50] NOTE: new client disconnected [2016-01-20T09:53:54] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-01-20T09:53:54] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:53:55] NOTE: new client disconnected [2016-01-20T09:53:59] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-01-20T09:53:59] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:54:00] NOTE: new client disconnected [2016-01-20T09:54:04] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-01-20T09:54:04] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:54:05] NOTE: new client disconnected [2016-01-20T09:54:10] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-01-20T09:54:10] INFO: accepted secure socket [2016-01-20T09:54:10] NOTE: new client disconnected I then completely lose connection with the synwinhk issue. I either use tasklist /m synwinhk.dll to find what is using it and kill it, or restart but it's happening too often now. Only noticed this happening since Monday (18th Jan). Initially had the nightly build installed but reverted both client and server to 1.7.3 (latest stable) but getting the same issue which makes me think it's not a Synergy issue but more of a Windows update that's caused this possibly? Would be fantastic to get to the bottom of - happy to help or provide any diagnostic data I can.

This keeps happening continuously for me to Server: Win7 Client: Linux Mint 17.3 Turned off Network Security which makes it less buggy. Wish that we could control the timeout sensitivity to have the service get restarted automatically if it's not sensing the other or maybe have it act like a cluster where it shoots the client and itself or vice versa.
