Linux - SystemD dependency

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to have a version that won't rely on systemd? I have different systems without systemd and it would be helpful to have them being supported.

There has been talk of this, but we haven't decided on a priority yet. What distro are you running?

All of them would be on point, but the main one giving me trouble is 3 Gentoo boxes without systemd. I have tried getting around it with a specific systemd library compiled, but it had different dependency problems:

 - library naming for libssl and libcrypto

- libsystemd workaround didn't work -> it wanted a systemd symbol from 209, I had 237.

while the libssl/libcrypto names are different between the rpm and deb packages (it complained on both libraries, even after creating symbolic links), the libsystemd behavior was the same. I believe if we can have a version without that hard dependency, the libssl/libcrypto could work
