Craig Emery 0
I rebooted in Windows for the first time since upgrading from 2.0.7 to 2.0.8. And my machine was almost completely unusable. Start Menu wouldn't appear, I couldn't click on things. I tried rebooting many times - things were so bad I had to hard power off. I uninstalled Synergy and things went back to normal. I've re-installed 2.0.7 and stability has remained. So anyone else getting performance issues on 2.0.8? I'm 64 bit Windows Pro on a Surface Pro 2017. 100's of GB free space, 16GB RAM. Things seemed to get really bad when I started Chrome.
GranPaSmurf 108
Whoa! that's bad! My 2.08 installations on 2 different Win 10 machines went smoothly and Synergy is working better than ever. What OSs are you using? Did you update to 2.08 on multiple computers? Is this on a wireless device?
Craig Emery 0
Windows 10 Pro (64bit) fully patched. Version 1709, build 16299.309. This is the client. The server is Windows 10 Enterprise Version 1607, build 14393.2155. Both had 2.0.8 x64. Interestingly, I regained stability after downgrading just the unstable client machine to 2.0.7. My server machine is still at 2.0.8 and all is fine.
GranPaSmurf 108
Yeah, in recent versions I've noticed that they don't need to match. I always have, it just seems like best practice. If you are satisfied, go for it. If you still want to work on the issue, I'd suggest a thorough uninstall from the troublesome machine and then re-download a fresh msiĀ (just in case) and re-installĀ 2.08. Craig Emery 0
Well the weird thing was I uninstalled 2.0.8 and things got better. But now, they've gone back to being bad - after about an hour or two. So it's not Synergy then. :-|
GranPaSmurf 108
maybe. how about routine maintenance of the machine? One of my old windows went goofy. It was a HD crying for defrag.
Craig Emery 0
I have a half full 1TB SSD with NTFS. I may be wrong but I don't think a defrag is needed.
