As a side note, I do the same thing.  I just have the audio from one PC plugged into the "in" port on the main PC and that PC out to speakers.  Works really well for me doing it that way.  My volume control on my main PC controls the volume on both.

I would love to do this with synergy but in the meantime I use Soundit from the google chrome store. It streams the audio to a port so you can listen to it through a browser.

As soon as synergy has this feature I will use it though!

Holy crap, this is genius. Right now I have 2 speakers one for each machine. This would make my desk prettier.
