File Sharing Not Working

Recommended Posts

Just downloaded the pro application, but it appears that I am unable to share files between my two machines. The cursor-sharing is working fine though.

Mac OSX El Capitan and Windows 10 64bit Home Edition

Any thoughts on how to resolve the issue?

Thank you,

Chris

Please try setting the log level of both machines to "debug1" and try to drag and drop a file again. Check for any lines on the logs it generates for possible errors that might give us a hint on why it doesn't work.

*Before starting with the steps, make sure that both machine's Synergy is not running (stopped)

  1. Click Edit (on top)
  2. Click Settings
  3. Set Logging level to Debug1
  4. Click OK
  5. Restart Synergy by closing and re-opening it

* Do the same steps on both machines before trying to reconnect

Paste the log results on Pastebin or Gist then post the link here.

I have the same problem with Yosemite (Server) and Win10 (Client).

How can I access the log files?

Hey @MaSchox. You should be seeing the logs on the user interface for Synergy. Are you not seeing it? If so, please post a screenshot of your Synergy's user interface.

Hi Paul,

here you find the log. As you can see I can copy things to the clippboard but i cannot insert it on the other device. Draging a file does not work either.

Please provide more details about your machines (OS, 32/64 bit, Synergy version installed, connected to the network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi, specify which one is the server). Also, post a screenshot of both machine's Synergy interface and the Server Configuration interface on your server machine.

I will join this with a "me too":

SynergyPro Version 1.8.8-2 Build Date March 16th 2017 from ARCH repos

Server and client on:

4.11.9-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Jul 5 18:23:08 CEST 2017 x86_64 GNU/Linux

with Fluxbox 1.3.7

Problem for me: I cant even leave the server screen when mouse button is pressed while dragging:

DEBUG1: try to leave "[NAME]" on right
        /build/synergy/src/synergy-1.8.8-stable/src/lib/server/Server.cpp,810
DEBUG: locked by mouse buttonID: 0

I guess this is a RTFM error to configure this but I wasn't able to find an option for "locking" keys or buttons

And along the same line I have a question: Is file sharing also supposed to work via clipboard i.e. copy and paste STR+C/STRG+V? What does work for me is to copy text via clipboard with mark + paste with middle mouse button.

Tried the debug thing. It didn't seem to work:

Ok, I gave up on this in my case, as this

https://github.com/symless/synergy/issues/4170

feature request from 2014(!) clearly states, that Drag&Drop is not (intended to be) working from LINUX to LINUX and it also indicates that it will not work anytime soon.

Anyways, I now did my own implementation of a STRG+C/V functionality for files from server to client which is getting the job done.

Hi Paul, do you have any update on that issue?

Hi everyone. Please check this quoted post below.

Hey, I'm sorry the drag and drop feature and the scroll buttons aren't working for you.

We're working on improving these features but it'll take a while (probably not until next year). If you'd like a refund please email us: [email protected]

If my licence will be valid until then, I do not see a problem. Which setup enables me to use the drag & drop? Mac & Mac or Win & Win?
