debian linux install

21 posts in this topic

I purchased the basic package and then installed the debian synergy pkg.  When I tried entering my login info I got a message the server couldn't connect

Paul,  I already told you.  It is the version included in debian.  Is there a way to check the version?

Is there another way to do the installation?

Maybe I should start over.

Here is what has mostly worked for me...

sudo apt-get remove synergy (the version packaged with jessie is old and doesn't work)

I downloaded synergy-v1.8.8-stable-25a8cb2-Linux-x86_64.deb from https://symless.com/synergy/downloads

sudo dpkg -i ~/Downloads/synergy-v1.8.8-stable-25a8cb2-Linux-x86_64.deb

sudo apt-get install -f

sudo apt-get install libavahi-compat-libdnssd1_0.6.31-5_amd64.deb

Hi, I've purchaed the basic package and installed the server portion on Win10. I then download ver1.8 8 for Debian to be installed on a raspberry pi and I'm not able to install it for some reason. Any ideas?

I've tried to install both

synergy-v1.8.8-stable-25a8cb2-Linux-x86_64.deb

and

synergy-v1.8.8-stable-25a8cb2-Linux-i686.deb

both with results of: "Errors were encountered while processing: <filename>

ok, thank you.

I've followed the instructions almost 100% as the file that was avaiable was a bit newere and unzipped:

synergy-v1.8.8-stable-25a8cb2-Source.tar.gz

However, when I run this line:

sudo unzip ./tools/cryptopp562.zip -d ./tools/cryptopp562

I get this results

"unzip: can not find or open ./tools/cryptopp562.zip

I've done a search for the file or for the tools directory. Either one is them is found..

It looks like version 1.4.15 had a bug compiling for rasberrypi that was addressed in versions 1.4.17.  I say that looking at the ChangeLog file description of Bug #3939.

Bug #3939 - Compile fails on ARM (Raspberry Pi) because of cryptopp/Crypto++ lib

You can probably skip that step.

Paul put a link to the synergy compiling wiki that may help.

I must admit I'm a bit confused. There are many instructions some of incomplete some are not relevant to my setting.

I have a windows 10 machine and a Raspberry pi 3b using the Debian OS.

I'm trying to make the Windows10 my server and my RP my client.

Is there a defined file to download, clear instructions for installation and setup?

If there are can you please point me in a single direction where I can retrieve this documentation and following up (knowing that they have been tested before).

Many thanks
