Connection errors, Xubuntu 14.04 server, Win7 client

Until recently, I was using version 1.6.2 on this configuration without any trouble. After installing version 1.7.2, I cannot connect my machines. I have the server running on my Xubuntu 14.04 desktop and the client on my Win7 laptop. When I click "Start," I get the following errors: NOTE: connecting to service... My server configuration file is unchanged since 1.6.2 and contains the following: section: screens USITRICHTMD1C: USITHULLRML1CW7: end section: links USITRICHTMD1C: right = USITHULLRML1CW7 USITHULLRML1CW7: left = USITRICHTMD1C end And the log file on the server shows this: ERROR: dup error: 2 DEBUG1: logging to file (/home/richtm/.synergys.log) enabled DEBUG: opening configuration "/home/richtm/.synergy.conf" DEBUG: configuration read successfully ERROR: dup error: 2 Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also seeing this, as of 5/8/2015, my configuration is a Win8.1 server, Ubuntu 14.04 client. It's the Ubuntu client that won't start. --Mike Elkins

Similar situation. After 1.7.2 connections time out. The IP listed in the connection failures on the client is part of the list of (six) IPs on the server. Setting the correct IP in the interface setting in preferences leads to::
FATAL: failed to start server: cannot bind address: The specified address is not available from the local machine DEBUG1: caught cancel on thread 0x00000d40
I edited the settings on my Windows 7 client, turned off SSL and I now have a connection that works. Even the screen saver sync works. However, the copy-and-paste does not work - if I try to copy something on the Win screen and paste it on the Linux side, it fails. Copy from the server side pastes fine on the client. Thanks.

Nick, at this point in time, is disabling SSL a diagnostic experiment, a temporary work-around, or a longer term workaround? Thanks.
