Murvin Lai 0
When I tried to connect the Windows client to the Mac server, it fails. They are connected but unable to work. these are the message: [2016-06-02T10:48:15] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-06-02T10:48:15] WARNING: error writing socket: Can't assign requested address [2016-06-02T10:48:15] NOTE: error communicating with new client [2016-06-02T10:48:16] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-06-02T10:48:16] WARNING: error writing socket: Can't assign requested address [2016-06-02T10:48:16] NOTE: error communicating with new client [2016-06-02T10:48:18] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-06-02T10:48:18] WARNING: error writing socket: Can't assign requested address [2016-06-02T10:48:18] NOTE: error communicating with new client I tried to change screen name, but doesn't help neither. Thomas Moses 0
I had this problem a while back, it happened to me when I restarted my server computer or put it to sleep and then woke it up again. To fix it I just fully shut the server and the clients down and then started it up again. I believe it is because your computer thinks that synergy is still using the port/IP from before you restarted your computer.
Murvin Lai 0
I have tried that ,and even change the screen name all lowercase. But still, doesn't work.
Thomas Moses 0
Try assigning your computer a static local IP, and then use that instead of Auto Config. You do this in your router settings, e.g. routerlogin.net (for netgear routers) or bthomehub.home (for BT routers) or whatever it is for your router
Murvin Lai 0
i've assigned with the IP address. One possibility is that my mac runs on wireless, whereas windows with cable. I will try having the mac with cable.
Thomas Moses 0
I cant imagine it would be a problem of wired vs wireless as long as they are on the same network. I will come back with an update once I think of anything else you could try. Good luck!
Murvin Lai 0
Thanks. What I have tried yesterday were: 1) Making sure the hostnames are correct 2) Run the Wizard again on both Mac & Windows, and enabled SSL Encryption. now, I got different error message after enabled SSL: Server: [2016-06-07T13:28:35] INFO: starting server [2016-06-07T13:28:35] INFO: config file: /var/folders/4d/hf3980914yzf5k0_rhg3bcth0000gn/T/Synergy.EWu873 [2016-06-07T13:28:35] INFO: log level: INFO [2016-06-07T13:28:35] INFO: drag and drop enabled [2016-06-07T13:28:35] NOTE: started server, waiting for clients 2016-06-07 13:28:35.941 synergys[883:43017] starting cocoa loop [2016-06-07T13:28:55] NOTE: accepted client connection [2016-06-07T13:29:06] WARNING: failed to accept secure socket Something wrong with accepting the socket. Thomas Moses 0
Ive read elsewhere that SSL encryption causes problems.
Murvin Lai 0
i tried without SSL, still can't get it working.
Murvin Lai 0
Finally get it working by help of support. the problem is Firewall. My mac doesn't run original mac firewall but another security application called "ESET". Apparently, allowing Synergy to communicate TPC/UDP or on port 24800 is just not enough. there may be some kinda port forwarding by this security software. So, what i do is to set up security rule to accept communication on all ports from my client (windows) company IP address. It is not ideal but it works.
