Messes up Photoshop

9 posts in this topic

After installing Synergy on Win 10 I was having trouble with Photoshop (newest CC 2016) on the server computer: I couldn't drag selections or layers to move them around, or drag windows, or shift-click to select multiple layers. It feels as if some key (shift? ctrl? etc) is permanently down, or that mouse dragging and clicks are being sent incorrectly. Stopping the Synergy server immediately fixes the issue. It stays gone until I reboot, which brings the issue back. It happens consistently, and nothing I've tried (turning off the client machine, disabling Razer keyboard and mouse software, running Photoshop in different ways) fixes it except for stopping the Synergy server. I've noticed similar weird behavior in other apps but only did a thorough test with Photoshop.

Confirmed - spent 1 hour with Adobe support today before they pointed me at their knowledge base: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/cant-drag-layers.html Sadly this means I cannot use both and Photoshop is the requirement for my job :(

Same issue. Kill synergy with Task manager and Photoshop immediately begins to work again. Huge bummer.

I am experiencing a similar issue with DipTrace, a PCB CAD suite. See http://www.diptrace.com/forum/viewtopic ... 302#p20302 - here's a video showing the glitch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QtpJ_9S-rw Under certain circumstances, e.g. when I add a PCB trace to the design, drag & drop stops working correctly to the effect that it acts as if the item was "dropped" (or left button click was released) mid-drag. Cursor keeps moving but despite my finger pressing down on the left mouse button, the item no longer drags. Stop Synergy, problems goes away. This is using a Windows 10 Professional laptop as the Synergy Server. Both trackpad-based control and USB mouse-based control exhibit this issue.

Does anyone from Synergy want to weigh in? Because I don't have this problem using Microsoft's Mouse Without Borders but I'd rather use Synergy.

Problem confirmed in Photoshop CC 2015. Running Windows 7, 64 bit. Synergy 1.7.6. Issue experienced on the "Synergy server PC" while using "Free transform tool" in Photoshop. Were unable to resize the smart object. Stopping Synergy server fixed the problem.

Similar issue with click-drag in Altium Designer and Photoshop CC! Fortunately, my main machine for work is the Synergy server, so I can stop Synergy when using those programs - but it is definitely not pleasant.

I have this problem for a long time; I've searched for bugs on Microsoft, Adobe, mouse driver... and now I know that the problem was Synergy. Another issue that I have and without a solution is accenting on the keyboard. So I just uninstall Synergy for now, maybe I come back in the future. :/

Unfortunately, some apps, like Adobe and MS Office, prevent Synergy from properly communicating mouse moves, which breaks text select. Most users are able to get around this by enabling Relative mouse moves on the server, and switching to Elevate mode on the (Windows) client. To make this change, follow the instructions below: Open Synergy on the server Click on the button labeled "Configure server..." Click on the tab "Advanced server settings" On the right hand side, check the box labeled "Use relative mouse moves" Click "OK" Click "Apply" or "Start" Open Synergy on the (Windows) client Go to Edit > Settings > Elevate Mode Click "Apply" Also on the client, press the Scroll Lock key on the keyboard. This should prevent your mouse from leaving the screen. Press it again to be able to switch back to the server. Some users report that they find a sequence of keys to restore drag-select. This ranges from as simple as just pressing the Windows key to combining modifier keys, plus tab and escape. I haven't found any that work consistently, however. Some users just stop Synergy when they need to work in these apps. If this is the case for you, just let me know and I can refund your payment.
