Keyboard inputs not sent when connected to Remote Desktop

My Setup: Server - Windows 10 64-bit Client - Mac OSX 10.9.5 Everything works perfectly usually. However when I use Remote Desktop to connect to my work computer, keyboard inputs are not sent when I move over to my Mac (Client). The mouse works and copy paste works its just that all keyboard inputs are captured by Remote Desktop. Is there a workaround or is this a bug?
